Cupping may be particularly useful when small volumes of breastmilk/colostrum are being given and during emergency situations. Examples: you and your baby are separated for a period of time, you need to give your nipples time to heal, your baby is refusing to breastfeed, your baby has a minor cleft of the lip and/or palate. When done properly, this feeding technique is perfectly safe for the baby.
